Die Familie (in Englisch)

I am not in Oldenburg anymore.

Yes, in case you haven’t noticed, I am no longer in Oldenburg.

So if you are a lady sitting there thinking: “Where is that handsome chap I usually adore?” my answer would be: “Well, I don’t know but thanks for stumbling over my Blog.” If you actually mean me, please tell me for I fail to speak Subtext.
Back to my misplaced person:
A while ago my sister called me telling me that my brother-in-law was diagnosed with acute leukemia (type AML-M4 plus mixed lineage). Google it if you want though it isn’t fun.
Luckily they found it only two or three days after infection (Guinness Book here we come) which gives him pretty good chances. Problem was that only one person per day is allowed in his iso-room. And no kids at all. That would have left my adorable little nephew Fynn in mid-air.
People who spend time with me tend to notice pretty fast that family and loyalty rank high in my life, so I naturally made the round at university telling my professors about the events and my need to take care of my family. Of course it wasn’t easy (and it isn’t going to be) but Oldenburg University has hired some pretty awesome and understanding men and women.
So that’s what I did.
Finished semester early, took my father and my PC and now I am in Stahe.
I’ll be spending the next few months here and have already started to do some stuff.
So far we have cleaned out the backyard, built a table, planted a summer garden, made the house leukemia clean, moved and built some furniture, did some laundry, established a (more or less) working Skype connection with Sven and, of course, spent time with Fynn. Oh, and I cut off my beard (though it grew back by now).
My father is back in Jever because his wife was diagnosed with a knot in her thyroid.
Isn’t life special?
I’ll probably stay here until September and then directly get into ASP, which has me away from my great roommates for about three months ;-(.
And I won’t be seeing my two little Americans until they go back home. Sad, as I really like you gals.
Talking of ladies, I think a certain one will probably be back in a relationship before I get back. Another sad side note.
Sometimes life sucks.
Sometimes it feels like the ground is opening underneath and you fall.
But as a wise man once said: “If you fall of a mountain, you may just as well try to fly.”

Keep your heads high and your hopes higher.
